Why we do this.

Roughly half of veterans who need mental health care never receive it. The reasons are consistent across 2 decades of research: wait times, distance to care, cost, and the difficulty of walking into a clinic and saying you need help.

We cannot fix all of that. We can offer a way to learn about online psychiatric care from home.

What veterans come to us for.

There is a stereotype that veteran mental health means one diagnosis. The reality is broader. Veterans come to Siggy for the same reasons everyone else does, sometimes shaped by service and sometimes not:

Depression

That settled in during or after transition to civilian life, or has nothing to do with service at all.

Anxiety

Including generalized worry, panic attacks, and the hypervigilance that does not switch off when the job ends.

Sleep problems

Among the most common complaints in veterans, and often the first thing worth treating because better sleep improves everything downstream.

PTSD

From combat, military sexual trauma, training accidents, or events that predate service entirely.

You do not need to know which of these fits before you book. That is the prescriber's job.

What to know

We prescribe only non-controlled medications.

For depression, anxiety, sleep, and PTSD, these are the first-line options anyway. VA/DoD clinical guidelines specifically recommend against benzodiazepines for PTSD, so nothing about our scope shortchanges your care.

What to know

For PTSD, the strongest evidence supports trauma-focused therapy.

CPT, PE, or EMDR, alongside or instead of medication. A licensed clinician can discuss whether therapy should be part of your care and where to look for appropriate services.

Is Siggy part of the VA?: Siggy is not a VA service. Confirm questions about VA eligibility, records, referrals, or benefits directly with the VA before starting outside care.
Can you prescribe the medication I was on in service or at the VA?: If it is a non-controlled medication, very likely yes, and your prescriber will review your history to keep continuity. We do not prescribe controlled substances such as benzodiazepines or stimulants.
What if I need therapy, not medication?: Then that is what we will tell you. Your prescriber can point you to trauma-focused therapy options, including VA and Vet Center services many veterans do not realize they can access.
