What "AI-assisted" means at Siggy.

"AI-powered mental health care" can mean almost anything, from a chatbot pretending to be a therapist to a scheduling tool with a language model bolted on. Since the phrase does so little work, this page does it instead: exactly what our AI does, what it never does, and who is accountable for your care.

The short version: AI assists. Licensed clinicians decide. Every diagnosis, every prescription, every change to your treatment plan is made by a human being with a license on the line.

What the AI does.

Structured intake.

Siggy conducts your initial intake conversation: symptoms, history, medications, and validated screening measures. It is patient, thorough, available at 2 am, and never rushed by the next appointment. Your prescriber starts your visit after reading your story, which the AI organized for them.

Clinical preparation.

Before your visit, the AI assembles your history, flags drug interactions and red-flag symptoms for clinician attention, and drafts documentation, so your prescriber's attention goes to you rather than to a keyboard.

Between-visit continuity.

Between visits, the AI runs your symptom check-ins, monitors for side effects, and handles follow-up scheduling. Anything it surfaces goes to your care team; it does not act on clinical information alone.

Guided exercises between visits.

Your clinician sets your treatment plan, and Siggy walks you through the daily work it calls for: CBT-based exercises, somatic regulation practices, and skills modules matched to what you are working on. You can do a session at 6 am or during a hard night, as often as you need.

What the AI never does.

The AI is not a licensed doctor, and we do not blur that line.

It does not diagnose you.
It does not choose, start, stop, or adjust your medication.
It does not make any decision that affects your treatment without a licensed clinician reviewing and owning that decision.

It does not handle crises. The AI never manages an emergency, and there are no automated time-critical alerts without human oversight. If you are in crisis, please see our emergency resources.

Why build it this way.

The bottleneck in American psychiatry is not knowledge. It is clinician hours. The average wait for a psychiatric appointment is measured in weeks to months, and much of a clinician's day goes to intake paperwork, documentation, and administrative work rather than judgment.

AI is good at that first category and unqualified for the second. Splitting the work that way lets a licensed prescriber spend the visit on clinical judgment rather than data entry and maintain full accountability for every decision.

Human oversight, specifically.

Every Siggy patient is treated by licensed clinicians who operate under Chief Medical Officer Daniel Montville, MD. Clinicians review AI-prepared material the way they would review a chart prepared by clinical staff: as input, never as instruction. Every AI-prepared suggestion is traceable to the patient-reported information behind it, the criteria applied, and the reasoning, so clinicians can independently review, act on, or override it, and all safety events are logged immutably. Our clinical team is listed on our team page, with names and credentials.

Your data.

The first question skeptical people ask about AI mental health care is the right one: what happens to everything I tell it? Here is the answer, in plain language.

Your information is protected as health data.

Siggy is HIPAA-compliant, and your conversations are encrypted. What you tell Siggy is treated with the same legal protections as what you would tell a doctor.

Your chats are never used to train other AI.

Your conversations exist for one purpose: supporting your own care. They are not training data, and your data is never sold.

You can start without telling us who you are.

The intake is fully anonymous. No account, no name, no payment information. You decide if and when to become a patient.

For the complete legal version, see our Privacy Policy and Notice of Privacy Practices. If anything on this page ever conflicts with those documents, those documents govern, and we would want to know, so tell us.

FAQs.

Is Siggy's AI my doctor?
No. The AI is not a licensed doctor. Your care is provided by Siggy’s licensed clinicians who make every medical decision. The AI prepares, organizes, and supports; it does not treat.
Will I ever talk to a real person?
Prescriber appointments are conducted via video with a licensed human clinician, while the AI handles intake, preparation, and daily check-ins. See our How It Works page to learn more about what’s handled by Siggy’s clinicians and what’s routed through AI.
Can Siggy help me in a crisis?
Siggy is not a crisis service and does not contact emergency services or a clinician on your behalf. If you are in crisis now, call or text 988; our crisis resources page has the full list.
Does the AI learn from my personal information?
Siggy does not use your chats to train other AI. Your conversations exist to support your own care, nothing else.

Always discuss Siggy output with a licensed clinician. Siggy uses AI-supported tools; the AI is not a licensed doctor, does not practice medicine, and does not provide medical advice or patient care.
